Frequently asked questions

What is TerraRisk AI?

TerraRisk AI estimates climate and flood-type risks for a piece of land. You draw your parcel on a map, we read satellite data for it and for the area around it (including what lies upstream), and you get a risk score, charts and plain-language advice.

How do I run my first analysis?

1) Create a free account. 2) Open the Platform page. 3) Draw your land (polygon or rectangle) or drop a pin. 4) Choose the hazard buffer, 3 to 5 km. 5) Press Run AI Diagnosis. You'll land on a dashboard with your score, charts and advice, and you can download a PDF.

How do I create an account?

Press Get Started, enter your name, email and password, and choose your persona (farmer, homebuyer, investor...). Every new account includes 5 free analyses and no card is needed.

I can't sign in or forgot my password

Sign in with the email you registered with (not a username). Automatic password reset is not available yet, so please email support@terrarisk.ai from your registered address and we will help you get back in.

What are personas?

Your persona tells us who you are so the advice fits you. Farmers get field and crop advice, homebuyers get property and insurance advice, and investors, developers and risk analysts get portfolio-style advice. The risk score itself is the same for everyone.

How do I draw my land on the map?

Use the toolbar on the left of the map: the polygon or rectangle tool outlines your land (click each corner, finish on the first point), and the pin tool marks one location. Use the search box at the top to jump to a place. To change the shape, use the edit tool; to start over, use the eraser.

What is the hazard buffer?

The buffer is the ring around your parcel (3 to 5 km) where we look for hazards such as steep slopes, rivers and silt that could affect your land. A larger buffer looks further upstream. Use the slider on the map page to change it.

What does the risk score mean?

The composite risk score runs from 0 to 100 and combines upstream slope, distance to the nearest river, vegetation trend, summer heat and soil moisture. Under 40 is Low risk, 40 to 64 is Moderate, and 65 or more is High. It's decision support, not a guarantee.

What is NDVI?

NDVI is a satellite measure of how green and healthy plants are, from 0 (bare ground) to 1 (dense, healthy vegetation). A falling trend over several years can signal drought stress or land degradation.

Where does the advice come from?

The advice is written from your numbers (slope, river distance, heat, vegetation, soil moisture), your score and your persona. It uses an AI language model when one is connected, and built-in expert templates otherwise. Treat it as a starting point and confirm important decisions with a local professional.

Where does the data come from?

Real mode uses public satellite datasets through Google Earth Engine: SRTM terrain (slope), JRC Global Surface Water (rivers), MODIS vegetation and land temperature, and ERA5-Land soil moisture. This site is currently running in DEMO mode: the numbers you see are generated examples, not real satellite readings.

How accurate are the results?

This site is currently running in DEMO mode: the numbers you see are generated examples, not real satellite readings. The score is a screening estimate from satellite-scale data (tens to hundreds of metres), so it can miss local details like a ditch or a retaining wall. Use it to compare places and spot problems early, not as an engineering or insurance verdict.

My analysis failed. What now?

If satellite data can't be read, you'll see a message and no search is deducted. Wait a moment and try again, or draw a slightly different area (some places, like open ocean or far polar regions, have no data). If it keeps failing, email support@terrarisk.ai.

How do I download a PDF report?

Open a dashboard and press Export PDF Report, or use the PDF link next to any row on My Saved Parcels. You get a one-page Resilience Certificate with the score, hazards, charts and advice.

What are free searches?

Each new account gets 5 free analyses. One search is used each time you press Run AI Diagnosis and it succeeds (failed analyses are free). When they run out you can pick a monthly plan.

How much does it cost?

Monthly plans: Starter $9 a month (20 analyses), Pro $29 a month (100 analyses) and Business $79 a month (unlimited analyses). You can cancel any time, and your plan keeps working until the end of the month you paid for. Click the badge at the top of any page to manage your plan.

How do I pay? Is it secure?

Checkout is running in demo mode: confirming a plan activates it but no money or card details are taken. You can cancel any time on the Billing page.

The map is slow or blank

Satellite pictures only exist up to a certain detail level, so very close zoom is upscaled and looks blurry: that is normal. If the map lags, try a hard refresh (Cmd+Shift+R or Ctrl+Shift+R), close heavy tabs, and switch the layer control to Streets. Make sure you have an internet connection, because tiles load from online map servers.

Is my data safe? Who sees my parcels?

Your parcels are only visible to your account. Project administrators can see stored data when running the service. We store your name, email, persona, parcels and purchases, and we don't sell data. Read the Privacy page for details.

How do I contact the team?
